Quilter’s Move to Restricted Advice – What It Means for You

[Plain Text Version]

You may have seen recent headlines about Quilter “removing its independent arm” and moving to a restricted advice model from January 2026. We want to reassure you that this change does not affect your access to investment choice with Pensionlite.

What’s the difference?

  • Independent advice: Looks at the whole of the market.
  • Restricted advice: Advisers recommend from a carefully selected range of solutions, with strong oversight, governance, and cost control.
  • Restricted Plus (Pensionlite): We are aligned with Quilter, but we have the same whole of market access as any Independent Financial Adviser plus the additional benefits of being part of one of the UK’s strongest financial planning networks.

Will this limit your investment choice?

No.

  • Quilter’s platform gives access to over 2,600 funds from more than 180 fund managers, plus 800+ ETFs and investment trusts.
  • Portfolios are not capped at 20 funds – you can hold as many as needed.
  • Where it’s in your best interests, we can also access whole of market solutions outside the Quilter core range.

In short, you continue to enjoy the same breadth of choice as with an Independent Financial Adviser with the additional support and benefits that come with our Quilter relationship.

Why is Quilter making this change?

  • To streamline and simplify its advice model.
  • To ensure consistent governance and compliance standards across the network.
  • To strengthen the focus on quality, suitability, and long term outcomes for clients.

What does this mean for you?

  • Continued access to thousands of funds and investments.
  • Greater consistency and oversight in the advice process.
  • Whole of market options remain available where required.
  • Advice backed by Quilter’s award-winning service and financial strength.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your Adviser if you have any further questions.
